Call me back is a video and sound installation. It presents four scenes — seemingly static — accompanied by the recurring sound of a woman’s voicemail, unanswered across multiple calls.

The crackling audio is paired with a slow shift in focus within each shot. A gradual zoom-out carries the viewer from the intimacy of a car interior to the vast isolation of a snow-covered plain.

Eventually, each of the four frames becomes subtly warped by a final wide-angle lens, reinforcing the distance and disconnection brought on by the lack of response.

Inspired by Downtown: Tilt, Zoom and Pan by Mark Lewis (2005) and the works of Michael Snow, Call me back reflects on the spatial dynamics shaped by mediated communication and the way isolation — often mistaken for solitude — takes form in our relationships.
